Japan announces the conferment of a first class award to the Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guyana.

The Hon. Samuel R. Insanally is to receive one of Japan's highest honours in light of his contribution to the strengthening of friendship between Japan and Guyana, and Japan and CARICOM countries. The Government of Japan announced the conferment of the  Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun on 3rd November, 2009. The Decoration will be transferd to the Hon. Insanally by the Embassy of Japan in Trinidad and Tobago.

The Hon. Insanally is a former Ambasador of Japan, former permanent representative of Guyana to the United Nations and President of the 48th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

He is currently the Special Advisor to the President on Foreign Affairs.
