Martial Arts Lecture and Demonstration

 

On February 22, the Embassy of Japan hosted a Martial Arts Lecture and Demonstration at the residence of His Excellency Yoshimasa Tezuka, Ambassador of Japan. The event featured two of the main types of Japanese traditional martial arts, Kendo and Judo. The event was part of the on-going activities to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Trinidad and Tobago as well as the Japan-CARICOM Friendship Year 2014. Guests were treated to lectures and demonstrations by members of the Kendo Federation of Trinidad and Tobago as well as members of the Queen's Park Judo Club. In his speech Ambassador Tezuka outlined the importance of martial arts in enhancing an individual's moral character and expressed his hope that Japanese martial arts will play a greater role in many different aspects of Trinidad and Tobago society.
