Visit to a steelpan manufacturer in Trinidad

Ambassador Yoshimasa Tezuka and Madame Tezuka visited Panland Trinidad and Tobago Ltd in Laventille.
Steelpan is an iconic musical instrument in Trinidad and Tobago, and many Japanese people are becoming increasingly aware of its name and sound recently.
Some people from Trinidad and Tobago are staying in Japan and they are teaching and playing together with many young people there.
According to the President of Panland Trinidad and Tobago Ltd, Mr. Michael Cooper, steelpans are exported to the world and getting more people's attention. Japan is not exception. He noted that a Japanese company already has established a relationship with Panland and it is believed that steelpan can be a focal element for further friendship relation between the two countries.
