Press Release: Japanese Government assist in Constructing Training Centre

The official opening ceremony of the new training centre which was constructed by the Grant Assistance for the Grass-roots Human Security Project (GGP) entitled “The Project for Construction of St. Francis Community Training Centre” took place on October 22, at the head office of St. Francis Community Developers in Port Mourant, Region 6, Guyana. St. Francis Community Developers received a Grant of US$103,597 from the Government of Japan for the construction of a new two-story Training Centre in which St. Francis Community Developers will offer various types of training for the enhancement of skills and the empowerment of the people who live in Region 5 and 6.

 

The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Yoshimasa Tezuka, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Guyana, and Mr. Alex Foster, President of St. Francis Community Developer along with approximately two hundred (200) guests.

Ambassador Tezuka gave a speech at the ceremony, in which he stated that Japan and Guyana share a history of cooperating in the international arena and the Government of Japan trusts that such cooperation will be maintained. The ceremony demonstrated how strong bilateral relations are built and he hoped that, the new Training Center will be the gathering place for the inhabitants of Region 5 and 6 who wish to advance their skills and make the “first step” on the path to an improved livelihood.

The Government of Japan welcomes further opportunities to work with the Government and the people of the Republic of Guyana, all with a view to strengthening the bonds of friendship and mutual understanding which exist between the two countries.
