A short trail up the mountains of Sasaguri, Fukuoka takes you to the largest reclining Buddha statue in the world. This bronze Buddha was built in 1995 and measures 41 meters in length, 11 meters in height and weighs about 300 tons. The reclining pose represents Buddha in his dying stage as he enters Nirvana. You can connect with Buddha by holding the five colored strings attached to his hand. The feet of the statue is designed with the teachings of Buddha. People can place a coin here as it is believed to bring them luck.
