Introduction
You must be one of the following to be able to apply for a visa at the Embassy of Japan in Trinidad and Tobago.
- A legal resident in Trinidad and Tobago, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, St. Lucia, Suriname, St. Kitts and Nevis, or St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
- A passport holder of Trinidad and Tobago, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, St. Lucia, Suriname, St. Kitts and Nevis, or St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and a legal resident of another country outside of the aforementioned nine countries and currently staying in one of the aforementioned nine countries (the applicant in this case must appear in-person at our Embassy's location in Trinidad and Tobago).

Caribbean Countries/Regions and Accredited Embassies of Japan
- Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Saint Martin (Dutch side), Saba and Sint Eustatius are accreditted to the Embassy of Japan in the Netherlands
- Saint Martin (French side), Martinique and Guadeloupe are accreditted to the Embassy of Japan in France
- The British Virgin Islands, Anguilla and Montserrat are accreditted to the Embassy of Japan in the UK
- The U.S. Virgin Islands are accreditted to the Consulate General of Japan in New York
- Jamaica, Bahamas and Belize are accredited to the Embassy of Japan in Jamaica
- Barbados is accredited to the Embassy of Japan in Barbados
The visa application requirements may differ depending on the purpose of the visit, length of stay, nationality of the applicant, as well as other factors. Therefore, it is recommended that these instructions be read carefully in order to determine whether a visa would be required and the type that may be required.
