"grow wherever you are planted"
I remember once being told,
when I was once young
and wasn't concerned about getting old.
The moments are becoming the past, presently.
The time is flying by quickly,
it's been more than six months already
time is just going by so fast and steady.
It's teaching me to keep my feet sturdy, hold tight and be ready!
Here in the City of trees
As temperatures begin to freeze,
I maintain a disposition of ease
while maneuvering through the bustling masses
juggling life, lessons and classes.
Uprooted from the life I've always known
Up and out of my comfort zone
Alone, on my own
Alot I have grown.
Plenty of little things these past few months have shown.
I came in the guise of a teacher
But I am really the student
Japan is my teacher,
here my actions grow more prudent.
These life lessons serve as preachers
to the true knowledge seekers.
Japan shows me the importance of harmony, unity and community.
Integration and consideration seem to be key to
a virtually crime free nation.
I appreciate the intentionality that infuses culture in this country.
The consciousness, the careful thought
that makes you consider the disposal of everything
before it's even bought.
I express my immense gratitude for this opportunity.
An invitation to be an optimist in the face of adversity,
while mobilizing diversity,
in a place that's another universe to me.
I remind myself that
laughter is the same universally.
