JET Programme Series: From Paramin's Chive Gardens to Kushiro's Cold Winds & Seas - Brandon Phillip
2025/10/6

Hello everyone! My name is Brandon Phillip, and I’m from the scenic village of Paramin in Trinidad and Tobago. I’m honoured to be a 2025 participant in the JET Programme and thrilled to be placed in Kushiro-shi, Hokkaido—a city known for its beautiful landscapes, cooler climate, and vibrant local culture.
I graduated in 2022 with a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems Management. My professional background blends technology with creativity: I run T3 Productions, a photography and videography company that focuses on storytelling through cinematic visuals, and T3 Automotive, a brand dedicated to car care and automotive content.
When I’m not editing videos or working on creative projects, you can usually find me immersed in the world of anime, exploring Japanese car culture, or dreaming of attending the Sumidagawa Fireworks Festival. I’ve always admired Japanese traditions, innovation, and attention to detail—whether in craftsmanship, film, or community life.
The JET Programme is more than just an opportunity to teach—it’s a chance to grow through cultural exchange. I’m excited to meet my students and fellow teachers, embrace daily life in Kushiro, and hopefully share a bit of my own culture along the way. I look forward to forming meaningful connections, learning the language, and contributing positively to my placement community.
Japan has inspired me creatively for many years, and I’m beyond grateful for the chance to now live and work there. I’m ready to make the most of this adventure—learning, growing, and giving back with every step.
Stay tuned for my other Programme Series parts where I’d be diving into the snow filled streets of Kushiro and sharing the experience with each and every one of you reading.
